Please Help Keep Camp Gabriels Correctional Facility Operating

SAVE CAMP GABRIELS

Text Box: We are members of the community whom recognize the important role that Camp Gabriels plays in our community. Camp Gabriel’s is located on Rt. 86 in Gabriels NY, in the Town of Brighton. Our central, but secluded location allows us to reach out to several communities helping them help you, the tax payer and the residents of our communities. We provide aid to not-for-profit organizations as well as area towns and villages. This aid comes in the form of prison work crews which can be called upon, at no cost to the organization, to perform a variety of jobs. For example in 2008, the Saranac Lake Adult center asked for help from our asbestos removal crew to clean up dangerous, asbestos contamination in their building. This saved the adult center, and Franklin County 10’s of thousands of dollars. Also in 2008, Paul Smiths was threatened by a raging forest fire. Camp Gabriels sent it’s crew of inmates trained in fire fighting, (training which they received at Camp Gabriels), to help extinguish the fire and clean up afterwards. All tolled, our community work crews save the tax payers of this community HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of DOLLARS a YEAR. This is a cost which Governor Patterson is trying to pass along to you. We ask that you call, write or email him and your elected officials and ask them to keep Camp Gabriels in our community, and stop trying to balance his budget on our backs.
